Have you found your SwEeT sPoT? If you are still trying to figure that out, take a look at what “CliCks” for you. Where do you seem to get good ReSuLts and in almost an UnCaNnY way things just work out for you? It is sort of like jumping into a river and the CuRrEnT sweeping you downstream. You may have to paddle a bit to stay on course, but there is an underlying FoRcE moving you forward. Some people may refer to this as the stars aligning or just plain ‘ole luck, but I believe that finding your “sweet spot” will bring the FaVoR and pLeAsUrE of God in your life. When you find your “sweet spot” you find what God created you for and that brings God great DeLiGhT!
Find that thing that “cLiCkS” for you, that thing that brings so much sAtisFacTion to your soul that you feel as though you get “lost” in the moment and where time stands still. Because when you get to the point that you can “click it” it may be that you have found your TiCkiT!
Still trying to find your “SwEeT sPoT”? If so, take a look at what fuels you, not just what you love to do and what you are good at. If what you are doing is making you feel drained and “spent”, chances are you haven’t found your “sweet spot”, at least not yet. If so, take heart and KeEp LoOkInG!! Your “sweet spot” will be a place you are EnErGiZeD and revitalized. It will be a place that you are at the top of your game, a place where the creative juices just seem to flow.
When looking for your “sweet spot” think EnerGizEr BuNnY. Nothing outlasts it and it keeps GoIng and gOiNg and GoiNg and gOinG….
I love to watch people who are “NaTuRaLs”. Whether it be in music, theatre, business, communication, athletics, etc, I find that these people are mesmerizing because they are so good at what they do. They make it look EffOrtLess and in a way it is, because their gift just naturally flows out of them. It’s as singer and actress Pearl Bailey observed when she said,
“There are two kinds of talent, man-made talent and God-given talent. With man-made talent you have to work very hard. With God-given talent, you just ToUch iT Up once in a while.”
I’m not saying you don’t have to work hard to achieve your dreams, because from my experience, hard work has always been a requirement, but I do believe that you will have to work a whole lot harder if your talent is a man-made one.
One way to find your “SwEeT sPoT” is to find out what you’re God-given talent is. This may take some time and definitely some experimenting but it’s well worth it.
How do find what you’re good at? Take a look at what comes easy to you, but not necessarily for others. That is where you are going to get the greatest return on your investment, the biggest bang for your buck.
If you are looking for your God-given talent, remember Go WiTh tHe fLoW, Baby!
I went through a time in my life where I was fRusTrAteD in almost every aspect of my life. Things just didn’t seem to be going well for me. I felt mediocre, or worse, like a failure. That is when I remembered a couple of compliments I had been given years earlier by two separate individuals. They both said the same thing, “Robynn is the NiCeSt person I know.” I remember being floored that two people who didn’t even know each other and didn’t live in the same city said the same exact thing.
My point in sharing that story is not to say I’m the nicest person around because it turns out that I know fRiEndLier aNd NicEr people than I am and I try to emulate these people. Instead my purpose in sharing this story is to show how these people had seen my gifting, my tAleNt which is being fRieNdLy and enCouRagiNg to others. That is my StrEngTh.
When I thought back to these comments the LigHtBuLb went off!! I wasn’t operating in my GIFT, instead I was trying to be someone else. I was trying to emulate people who have strengths in the areas of my weaknesses and when I did I failed.
What gifts and talents do others see in you? Maybe it’s not even something that you have ever considered being a gift or a talent. Maybe you have blown off CoMpliMenTs thinking that people are “just saying that”, “don’t really mean it”, or “are just trying to be nice” . It may be time to take their compliments to heart. Could it be that they are pointing you to your “SwEeT sPoT” without you even knowing it?
I think I need to back up. We are on Week 13 of “The Challenge” where we are encouraging you to go for your dreams. But I know people my age and older who say, “Hey, hold on. I don’t know what my DrEaM is or where to even begin looking for my PurPoSe.”
If that describes you or even if you want to fine tune your dream consider this:
Your purpose is where your PaSsioN (heart’s desire) and your TaLenTs meet. In what area do you have high marks in both the passion category and the talent category? Maybe you don’t know the answer to this question. It may be that you have not yet discovered your talent, or your passion for that matter. However, when you do find them you have hit Bull’S-eYe. This is your “SwEeT sPoT”. For the next few weeks Suede Sofa is going to focus on finding your “sweet spot” a.k.a. your purpose.
Until next time ponder this question: Do you know your “sweet spot”?
