I was given a devotional a few months ago (from a very thoughtful and great friend!) and it has cHanGed my life in so many ways. In case you are needing a spiritual boost, help with calming your anxiety, or a reminder that God has good pLaNs for you (even if you currently don’t believe Him!), this is a book I highly recommend!
There is a devotion for every day and I read it every morning. The devotions are only a couple of paragraphs long–it only takes a second to read–yet it will help you ALL day long!
Here are a couple of my favorites:
January 17- “Come to Me with a Thankful Heart, so that you can enjoy My Presence. This is the day that I have made. I want you to rejoice today, refusing to worry about tomorrow. Search for all that I have prepared for you, anticipating abundant blessings and accepting difficulties as they come. I can weave miracles into the most mundane day if you keep your focus on me….”
April 16-“…When you criticize or complain, you are acting as if you think you could run the world better than I do. From your limited human perspective, it may look as if I’m mismanaging things. But you don’t know what I know or see what I see. If I pulled back the curtain to allow you to view heavenly realms, you would understand much more. However, I have designed you to live by faith, not by sight…“
This book also makes a great gift! I have purchased this book for others by going here. I also purchased it on Google Books so Doug can have it on his smartphone!
Maybe a good Father’s Day gift to consider :)

Like it or not, the people you are hanging out with play a big role in regards to wHeRe and WhO you will be in 5 years. Are the people in your life raising you up to help you fulfill your potential or dragging you down? Are they inspiring, positive and motivating or are they negative and critical? Do they seem to suck the life out of everything or are they LiFe-GiVinG?
My husband recently shared this quote with me:
“SmaLL pEopLe talk about other PeOpLe, AvEragE peOpLe talk about ThiNgS, GrEaT pEoPle talk about IdEaS.”
That’s one thing I really appreciate about Lara. She’s an IdeA PerSon. As a result, I get inspired. Everytime I talk to her I feel like I am leaving “smokin’ hot” with new ideas!
Who are the people in your life who make you a better person? Is it time for some new relationships? Time for a new CiRcLe oF FrIeNdS? Because you’re gonna blink and your 5 years will be up.
I’ve heard it said before that there are TwO ThInGs that determine the person you will be in five years: 1.) the books you read and 2.) the people with whom you associate. Week 11 of “The Challenge” focuses on the first element in this equation:
ThE BoOkS YoU ReAd.
I like to modify this factor to include all the input you receive whether that be by television, radio, internet, magazines, or other media sources. This all can be summed up in one word: “INTAKE”. What does your intake look like? Are you spending your time filling your mind with pointless and useless information or are you filling it with information that is moving you closer to your dream? Would you say that the majority of your intake is InSpiriNg OR JuSt eNterTaiNing? MotiVating OR meAniNgLeSs?
My latest read in the “pursuit of a dream” category is, “Put Your Dream To The Test” by John Maxwell. If you’re looking for a good book on how to make a dream come true I would give it TwO ThUmBs Up!
It is definitely inspiring, as well as motivating and it will move you toward your dream!!

To assist in making your dreams a reality, you must have a clear vision of what you want. An easy and InSpiRinG way to document your goals is by creating a vision board. Your vision board can include pictures, words, quotes or anything that depicts what you want to accomplish. Do you want to improve your confidence? Hang a picture of a confident woman that you admire. Want to be your own boss? Display the words “SELF-EMPLOYEED“.
I recently made a VISION board for our entire family. I actually used a picture that was hanging on the wall, took out the glass, flipped the backing to the front, and covered it with fabric! It only took about 30 minutes and didn’t cost a penny! Since our board hangs in a high-traffic area, we are reminded of our goals several times a day. This helps us stay FOCUSED and motivated. If my daughter sees something she wants in a magazine, we hang it on the board. If we want to take a vacation, we post pictures of where we want to go. Vision boards can be really fun! Be creative! You’ll be amazed at the number of things you’ll AccomplisH, all because you see it every day!!
