{HaPpY FaLL!!!}

Suede Sofa’s “Jersey Girl” enjoying fall!!

Ah… it’s FaLL!  And although I am always sad to see summer come to an end, there are so many things about this NoStaLgiC time of the year to love.  Off the top of my head I’m thinking of pleasant weather; FoOtBaLL games; crisp Saturday mornings; apple dumplings; fall festivals; chili on the 1st cool day; pulling out the blue jeans, sweaters, and boots; and colorful leaves.  What’s on your list?  Is it taking your kids to a pumpkin patch or ApPLe orchard, making your own homemade apple BuTtEr, attending an alma mater football game, taking a Sunday drive to photograph the colorful leaves, or raking a pile of leaves for your kids {and you} to play in?  Why not make a list of your top ten fall FaVoRiTeS and then go ahead and enjoy the season!!

{Yummy} Apple-Butter

Today I was HoPiNg to be in WeStOn, Missouri at their ApPLe CeLeBraTioN.  Weston is a quaint little pre-civil war town in the rolling hills of northwest Missouri with so much to offer.  I especially love their apple OrChArDs and PuMpKiN farms where you can pick your own apples and pumpkins.  The tractor-trailer ride to the pumpkin patch where my family visited had spectacular views of the RolliNg CoUnTry-SiDe!

Lara and I had wanted to take our families and make a day of it, but due to other obligations we were unable to go.  So, instead, I am going to share with you a recipe I came up with InSpIrEd by one of my visits there:  ApPLe-BuTtEr.  It is so YuMmY and EaSy!!  Weston’s Apple Celebration also InSpIrEd me to make ApPLe DuMpLiNgS which are also YuMmY and oh, so PrEtTy, but that’s another post for another day!!

I usually like to get my apples for my Apple-Butter from a nearby orchard, but this year I was unable to do so.  Instead I bought them from the store.  Because I love GrAnNy SmItH apples, those are the ones I chose.  This is a great recipe to make on a Saturday when you’re home hanging out with the family watching football!

{YuMmY} Apple-Butter Ingredients

  • 12 big apples
  • 2 cups sugar (use 1 cup if you want to cut out some sugar)
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 stick butter  (you can omit this is you are wanting to cut down on fat)

Peel and core the apples and cut into small pieces.  Place in a CrOcKpOt.

Add the rest of the ingredients.

Place crockpot on high.  Stir occasionally.  In about 4-5 hours VoiLa!!

The apples will break down on their own as they cook.  When the Apple-Butter is finished I like to place them in jars, save one, and GiVe the rest away!!
